Job Description
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the incumbent is responsible for providing leadership for programs designed to promote student wellness and prepare them for life after graduation
Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and assesses programs and initiatives designed to promote student wellness thus enhancing persistence and retention students and preparation for life after graduation.
  • Develops policies and procedures to ensure best practices
  • Provides leadership, supervision and evaluation of professional staff assigned to the Center.
  • Supervises counselors and provides personal counseling when needed.
  • Identifies implements and evaluates initiatives and accommodations designed to assist students with disabilities.
  • Assists in the orientation of new students.
  • Coordinates and maintains peer-assisting programs.
  • Develops and maintains department budget.
  • Identifies and analyzes student success initiatives and issues with faculty and administrators in an effort to design specialized programs that will ensure student fulfillment and achievement.
  • Develops student support programs to empower and educate students on various academic, professional development, and personal development issues.
  • Designs a comprehensive plan of action and recommends follow-up.
  • Conducts student tracking.
  • Serves as liaison/resource for faculty in addressing student academic success.
  • Oversees all Awareness Campaigns and Events
  • Oversees the Art and Music Therapy Rooms
  • Oversees the AUK Clinic
  • Oversees and develops services for students with physical and medical disabilities as well as mental health disabilities and learning disabilities.
Qualifications
Education:
  • A Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or a mental health discipline is required; a Doctorate in psychology, counseling, or a mental health discipline is preferred
Years Of Experience
  • At least five years clinical experience in a university/college counseling center or related mental health agency is required. Experience in administrative work required, preference within a university counseling center.
